Block Data Compression

EMC unified storage introduces block Data Compression, which allows customers to save and

reclaim space anywhere in their production environment with no restrictions. This capability

makes storage even more efficient by compressing data and reclaiming valuable storage

capacity. Data Compression works as a background task to minimize performance overhead.

Block Data Compression also supports thin LUNs, and automatically migrates thick LUNs to

thin during compression, freeing valuable storage capacity.
